We support German studies in Auckland, meet up to speak German, and host events providing insights into German culture. We are a non-political, not-for-profit organisation.
When: Monday 30th June, 7pm
Where: The University of Auckland, CLL-Building Pat Hanan Room (207-501), 18 Symonds Street, CBD. Building 207 is the "Cultures, Languages & Linguistics" building. Pat Hanan Room 501 is on Level 5.
After Winter Comes the Summer: Pūhoi’s Musical Heritage in Song, Rhyme and Dance (Massey University Press, June 2024) is a new book celebrating Aotearoa’s Bohemian-German musical heritage. The book brings together the rare folk songs, language, and traditions of Pūhoi’s Bohemian settlers - a community of 83 German-speaking migrants who arrived in New Zealand from Bohemia in 1863.
