About the Event

More than 200 fine examples of early 20th century German and other European Impressionist and Expressionist original graphics were brought out to New Zealand by Anthony's parents, refugees Alfons and Marie Blaschke in the early 1950s.

The collection includes works by a variety of artists including famous names such as Max Liebermann, Käthe Kollwitz, Edvard Munch and Max Slevogt. As a counterpart to the original German graphics, the Blaschkes also collected some 250 high-quality reproductions of the German and Dutch Old Masters, including Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt, Martin Schongauer, and Hendrick Golzius, as well as many of their contemporaries.
