AGS Speaker Event: Dr. Norman Franke's Talk

The Auckland Goethe Society is delighted to present a talk by renowned author, poet and scholar, Dr. Norman Franke on Thursday 4th August at 7pm.

The event will be held in person at The University of Auckland Humanities Building 206, Room 314 (14A Symonds Street) and will also be live streamed via Zoom for those who wish to attend online. Please register on Eventbrite to indicate if you are attending "In Person" or "Online". Free food will be provided to those who attend the event in person.

About the Event and Speaker

Dr. Norman Franke will present his own poetry and short stories. The presentation and readings will be in German, followed by a discussion in both English and German.

Norman is an accomplished scholar, poet and film-maker based in Hamilton. He taught German at the University of Waikato for many years and has been heavily involved with the Waikato Goethe Society. He has published widely about 18th century literature, German-speaking exile literature (Albert Einstein, Ernst H. Kantorowicz, Else Lasker-Schüler, Karl Wolfskehl) eco-poetics and at the intersection of religion and poetry. Norman’s poetry has been broadcasted on radio and published in anthologies in Austria, Germany, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK, and the USA.
